Review: Nein Oh Nein Compilation
Here at Numb we’re huge fans of Neil Parnell and Ian Considine’s Nein records. This year has seen them embark on a relentless schedule of upfront tunes from the scenes biggest, brightest and up and coming names. The label has featured the likes of Lokier, Duncan Gray, Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca, Inigo Vontier, Gemini Brothers, Club Bizarre and Dark Strands and of course Neil’s Tronik Youth, the list goes on and on.
Given the wealth of talent and at their disposal it’s no surprise they released their debut compilation album “Nein Oh Nein” on the 22nd June. It comprises of 11 unreleased tracks and remixes on disc 1 with Tronik Youth providing a selection of the best of Nein to date mix on disc 2.
Disc 1 as I mentioned is made up of unreleased tracks which are listed below. I’m not going to do my usual wordsmithery on each of the tracks as they are unreleased gems and as such I believe you should listen to them with a clean pair of ears so to speak, but what I can tell you that you will get a luscious array of 303 laden sounds, wobbly synths and deep dirty cosmic belters that will be peppering your sets for a long time to come.
I will say though that the Lokier’s ‘Always Dawn’ is a proper noodle twister!
1 Tronik Youth - Nein Oh Nein
2 Lokier - Always Dawn
3 Dark Strands - Slide (Inigo Vontier Mistic Mix)
4 Heretic – Pollux
5 Daniele Baldelli & Dj Rocca - Pink Ghosts (Jamie Paton Bassic Dub)
6 Cannibal Ink - Le Petit Prince (A Best Man Dead Mix)
7 Los Lopez – Werewolves
8 Discordance - Tarantism (Mr Cogs Mix)
9 Duncan Gray - Churn Again
10 Pin Up Club - Beat Nympho
11 Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca - Kachiri (Gemini brothers Mix)
The mix on disc 2 as you’d expect is expertly programmed by Neil and gives you a broader view of the Nein family with tracks from William Earl, Jonah Considine, Perdido Key and Two Mamarrachos as well as the crew featured on disc 1.
Press play and prepare to dance people
