Dinky: Falling Angel

In a typically maverick Visionquest vein this release really pushes the boundaries of what may be considered "normal" or "acceptable" realms of typical house music.
Dinky makes the transition from DJ/Producer to singer effortlessly, with haunting vocals from the offset, the 12" version really stands up and shouts different from the start. A melodic synth treat with an infectious drum pattern the whole track is carried by Dinky's impressive vocal.
Next we move to Matthew Styles mix, the co-producer of the upcoming album, a far moodier and darker affair, with dark heavily filtered drum patterns and looping mesmerising synths, but again the imposing essence of the track is Dinky's vocal, this is powerful stuff!
Pepe Braddock, need we say more, this man is a production perfectionist and wow, this really moves! A totally different and welcome direction for the track, jazzy organ breaks and hip hop drum kicks for me make this the standout mix.
An extremely impressive hard hitter from the Panorama Bar favourite
Boutain 8/10
