REVIEW: Shall Ocin - Conception

The always reliable L.A imprint Culprit, rounds up 2013 with Conception, letting Argentinian producer Nicolas Abalos, under his Shall Ocin moniker, return for his second release on the label.
This four track EP kicks off with 'Forgive Me', a bold and slick modern house track that oozes attitude from every kick drum, understated vocal refrain and dramatic bass sweep. This sexy beast of a track really is quite faultless, showcasing the slick production skills of this Barcelona based chap.
Track two sees the Valencian based Edu Imbernon remix 'Forgive Me', taking the originals vocals and layering it over a more skippy and urgent groove, with the result being good, but sadly overshadowed by the original.
Tracks three, 'Conception' and four, 'Have To Say' both have an early 90s Guerllia Records style progressive house vibe to them, for those elderly folk reading whose memories stretch back that far. Not as instant and infectious as 'Forgive Me' but both solid enough to make this EP complete.
Definitely worth a purchase.
