Review: Riva Starr - Fallin On Acid
Long-time friends Riva Starr (Stefano Miele) and Santos team up to make their debut on the mighty Hot Creations, with vinyl due on the 15th June and a digital release on the 22nd the EP features original Chicago legend DJ Pierre and is accompanied by a Davide Squillace remix.
"The Fallin’ on Acid EP is a great collaborative EP with my long-time friend and amazing producer Santos.
We’ve been doing stuff together for a while now and we made it the old school way with an AKAI S950 sampler and drum machine. Our friend Davide Squillace (from Naples like me!) did an amazing remix and I had the chance to collaborate with the true Acid House legend that is DJ Pierre who did a vocal cameo on Acid Train”
Both “Fallin’ on You” and “Acid Train” get gritty, as Stefano quotes above the Akai sampler and drum machine bring a pleasant retro feel and depth to both tracks. “Fallin on You” the lighter of the two by incorporating harmonic vocals to divert the listener. “Acid Train” is the angry teenager to a wiser more relaxed “Fallin’” with DJ Pierre’s vocal sitting perfectly with Riva’s acidic assault.
DC10’s Davide Squillace remixes “Fallin’ on You” and picks up the pace of the original and turns it into a late night Circo Loco destroyer.
