Review: Gemini Brothers - Eridu Eridu
The twin Romanian dandys return to the floor with a Tricerachug package of Eastern incensed slow- burners on Tici Taci’s 20th release.
The Bucharest brothers' original cut is a dark and hazy mix of fading dusk minaret calls to prayer and dusty, dirty alleyways to acidic Souk sanctity. Pass the hookah from the left hand side.
Dawn breaks. Label boss and slo-mo royalty Duncan Gray drops his (copyrighted) guitar and bass licks and tricks all over his remix. Layering on a bass heavy vocal clarion, searing sparks, fireflies and dive bombers. Need to get out of this sun.
Antipodean disco wranglers Somerville & Wilson turn the floor power up, with propulsive key changes and Eighties snare stutters and rolls before pitch wheeling their mix vigorously and ecstatically back to the dark hours.
Three mixes in the medina haggling, "I give you good price".
