Monoblok & PSLKTR 'Violence Assumée' EP
Play Pal kick off the Autumn season by welcoming four new artists to the label at the same time and to do it with an EP as good as this one, makes them very excited.
After their strong releases on Meant Rec and remixes on top labels like Relish, Blindetonation or Clouded Vision, French duo Monoblok & PSLKTR finally make their debut on Play Pal; they’ve been discussing and waiting for this partnership to come into fruition for some time. As they say 'all good things come to those who wait', in this case the proverb proves true! The EP is formed of two original cuts, both equally strong, giving the EP a perfect balance. Title track, ‘Violence Assumée’ features one of our favourite singers Justine, she imparts a final touch of darkness to this insane cut, leaving you wishing you’d kept up your French lessons, whether you understand the lyric or not... you just love it anyway! ‘Gorian Dray’ will worm it’s way into your head, catchy guitars and vocal line, sit on top of a relentless synth bass and thumping kick. An epic way to mark their Play Pal debut.
First up on remix duties is Curses, without a doubt one of the best artists out there currently, he takes the original 'Violence Assumée' and delivers what Fernando thought impossible, making the track even more mental, retaining the darkness, beefing up the percussion and adding a drop that will turn any dancefloor upside down. A tried and tested winner. Last but by no means least, the talented MontCosmik makes time from a hot production spell to bring a hefty retouch to 'Gorian Dray', holding onto the soul of the track, but laying a fat synth line on top that makes the remix equally effective than the original but with a different flavour and explains perfectly why we also wanted to work with him. With both remixes and OG cuts we’ve been struggling to decide which one to play, they all work on different levels, sometimes it’s hard to pick your favourite, sometimes you ended up playing them all.. The Play Pal team are also celebrating their 5th anniversary this year so keep your eyes and ears peeled as something big is coming !! |
