Farr Festival Review 2014
Farr has been on my radar since it's inception five years ago, due to its clued up line up and being located just down the road from my house...but for one reason or another, I kept missing it. But this year, being an old acid house shoomer, the allure of dancing to the likes of Andy Weatherall and Terry Farley in a fairy lit wooded enclave was just too much to resist.
Set amid sprawling corn fields in Hertforshire, this three night festival of house and techno had 4000 odd punters camp up and get right on one to the likes of Daniel Avery, Hercules & Love Affair, Channel One, Thunder, Move D, Kim Ann Foxman, Horse Meat Disco and Andrew Weatherall.
Now I've been to about seventy million festivals in my time, and I can honestly say this one was more or less perfect.
So rather than waffle on, I shall just list 7 reasons why it was so special
1. The Fox Hole/ The Badger Hole - Gorgeous ethereal setting amid a small wooded area with two exceptional sound systems
2. The Love Lounge - Hosted by Kelly Love, this little marquee of wonkiness was home to burlesque and an amazing six hour set from DJ DRW
3. Andrew Weatherall's mega intense machine funk/space techno set in the Badger Hole
4. Voodoo Ray's - Dan Beaumont's Kingsland Road based acid house pizza emporium set up shop over the weekend and went down like a pizza stall named after a Guy Called Gerald track
5. Sort Yourself Out Love - A very cool boutique marquee offering vinyl, retro clothes, haircuts, a photo booth and in tent disco jockeys
6. The crowd. Not a single snidey idiot seen all weekend.
7. Dan Avery, Thunder, Horse Meat Disco, Kim Ann Foxman, Terry Farley, Thunder, Dan Beaumont, Robert Owens etc etc etc
I could list another 20 reasons but I don't want to sound like a restuarant owner writing his own Trip Advisor review.
