Jo Howard, Clark ‘Pav’ Davison, Michael Sweeney and Mark Algar are creating something special…. together they are bringing their new night ‘Bodytalk’ to Cobalt Studios in Ouseburn Valley on Saturday 20th August.
In their own words the aim of the nights are pretty straight forward: “Inspired by clubs and parties, both old and new, from the likes of World Unknown, Salon Des Amateurs and Blood Sugar to Back To Basics, Trash and Boys Own, ‘Body Talk’ will soon to be bringing you, what we hope will be some truly special nights. With a selection of Europe’s brightest and best DJ’s, as well as a few you may not yet be as familiar with, all in a more intimate surrounding than you'd probably be used to seeing their like.” The success of the Moon Rocks parties (the guys staged part of the recent ‘Late Show’ gigs at Cobalt) helped cement their decision that they had finally found the people and space to work with to bring their vision to life.
“The guys there have been brilliant in supporting our ideas and giving us help and advice as well as the encouragement to go through with this project. We really can't say enough good things about everyone involved in that place.” “The importance of finding the right venue can't be overstated and in Cobalt Studio's we’re pretty sure that we've happened on the perfect location for these parties. Their involvement really has been the key for us. The visual elements involved are nearly always overlooked when it comes to these type of events and was something that we really wanted to put back into ours.” Body Talk has set the bar very high indeed and their first guests require little introduction…
Mr Ivan Smagghe (LDDLM /It's A Fine Line) and Mr Nathan Gregory Wilkins (Cowboy Rhythmbox/Phantasy Sound) Ivan has maintained a seat at the top table of DJ’s for close to 2 decades now after his ground-breaking work in various guises like Blackstrobe, Battant and RMVN as well as running the ‘Kill The DJ’ and ‘Les Disques De La Morte’ record labels. He’s currently prepping a new album under his ‘It’s a Fine Line’ moniker (a project alongside his studio partner Tim Paris) for release in September as well as recording new material for a separate solo project. Nathan too has found a gap in his hectic schedule of jetting round the planet playing music and releasing records alongside super producer Richard X as Cowboy Rhythmbox to come along with his old friend Ivan to play at the debut party. Support on the night comes from residents Cubik (Jo, Pav and Michael) who I’ve been reliably informed have a track due to drop in September on the mighty Nein Records and ‘BodyTalk’ co-promoter Mark Algar (Thoughts of Love and Smoking). Tickets are a steal @ £10 and are available via the vendor links above. |
