SCB - Engineered Morality
|
‘Engineered Morality’ is the third EP from Scuba’s SCB alias that finds him exploring a fictional narrative in which a hypothetical timeline is corrupted by a climate-related disaster.
Paul Rose aka..Scuba (the cat is out of the bag now) has become one of techno (and electronic music's) foremost players (if you will) never afraid to take risks musically and always invokes such an emotional response to his productions and DJ sets worldwide.(particularly in places like Berghain). His Hotflush label is now known to be a leading light in the sub-genre of bass music which continues to set such high standards through clever collaboration and production of intelligent electronic music. He brings all these elements together on a weekly basis through his ever popular radio shows and pod casts and is now performing his material to more of a live audience. First up "Intelligence Fetish" brings us a hypnotic synth lead that fluctuates and snakes in and out of alien lands filled with controlled distortions, washed out metallic snares whilst riding on top of some lush strings and arps.
Next is "Precision Incision" and it’s is back to Scuba's (even though this is an alias) integral dark percussive signature 4x4 sound complete with techno filled laser beams and an acid topping. Finally we wrap things up "Fishbowl" which switches to more of a break beat workout, shifting through the drum gears and reaching its sombre harmonic conclusion, a lovely change of pace to bring the curtain down musically. Keep your eyes and ears locked onto the Hotflush and SCB Bandcamp pages for this dropping on the 16th March...Lovely stuff indeed. Paul McGuinness |
