Amanda Marie @ Lollipop Gallery - Shoreditch

Commercial Street is a Street Art Group Show showing at Lollipop Gallery highlighting some of the most important talent working in the contemporary urban art scene. On the occasion of the Moniker Art Fair, where she will be showing, Amanda Marie will be staging an intervention. For those unfamiliar with her work, she draws upon symbols and characters which act like Jungian archetypes in an ongoing pictorial narrative. There is something disconcerting behind the basic All-American imagery of her work which is reminiscent of a David Lynch film in a prepubescent way. Twins, trees, sticks, wolves, horses, milk, houses, fires, recur across canvases. She uses spray paint and stencils to reproduce her core symbols which means that each painting stands alone as an aesthetic unit but also forms part of a larger body of challenging yet beguiling work as an artistic whole.
