Review: Chris Massey - Pink Flamingo EP
Manchester’s Mr Chris Massey officially releases his Pink Flamingo EP today hot on the heels of Sprechen’s debut release from Damon Jee which was a firm favourite of dancefloor dons Ivan Smagghe, Justin Robertson, Nick Warren, Jacques Renault and Kasper Bjorke.
With Andy ‘Emperor Machine’ Meecham and Berlins ROTCIV contributing to Pink Flamingo the baton has been firmly passed and looks set to find favour with astute sonic selectors. |
‘You Are Devine’ kicks things off with a pumping, no frills, powerhouse. Andy Meecham adds colossal keys and cosmic drum patterns to this break neck high energy ditty. The pace is relentless and don’t be the slightest bit surprised if you’re mopping your brow to this over the summer when the dance floor gets packed. In the words of the man himself “Don’t be surprised if more than just the top button gets undone during this campaign” – Perfectly put
‘Floor To The Floor’ gives off a wonderful jackin vibe with chopped up vocals which made me feel rather nostalgic when I listened to it. The vocals are cleverly interwoven with deliciously deep Electro flecked keys while our Producer come commentator explains the inner workings of his studio toys. The geeks as well as the freaks will love this. Native Brazilian now Berliner ROTCIV forges a darker path with his interpretation of ‘Four To The Floor’ his remix lifts the vocal talents of our Producer friend but bounces it between misty murky keys which morph and merge into a piano laced workout which should mangle any respectable dance floor. So in summary, the man like Massey hasn't dropped the baton, he’s running with it ! Firmly tucked under his arm and he’s not faltering as his Sprechen label releases another storming selection of music with top drawer collaborators. Get on it ! 9/10 Michael Prestage |
