Review: MR BC - Be Seeing You EP - TUNNYL Records
Oli Warriner’s TUNNYL records are back this January, the 20th to be exact with a cracking EP from Mr BC or Bob Salmond to his mates.
With numerous releases across 2016 on Logical Records, Nein Records and Sub:Sonic Mr BC is setting the standard early this year. The EP’s title track ‘Be Seeing You’ is a full frontal synth workout that blends warm chords with subtle textured acid house vibes that ease the listener into the EP before Tunnyl guvnor Oli steps up to deliver a tougher take on the original, twisting and toying with the listener and as with his Traela EP has a strong influence from his time spent in Berlin.
‘Calton Road’ takes you down a far darker path than ‘Be Seeing You’. A menacing intro that pulses and builds until a heavy weight acid bassline slaps you around the head and grabs your attention before descending into a full on belter of a tune. |
The stunning ‘Got To Be This Time’ tricks you into thinking Mr BC is dropping things down a peg or two but don’t be fooled, uplifting keys and driving melodies coupled with a classic house vibe and a twisted vocoder sample will light up many a dance floor this summer.
Lastly but far from least ‘The Written Word’ closes out the EP and is going to be an absolute dance floor destroyer, directly aimed more at the later stage of the evening I can easily see this getting everyone’s hands in the air in a seedy basement or in a field in Tunbridge Wells in the near future (you know who you are). This latest EP from Tunnyl and Mr BC is really up my strasse and it would be remiss of me not to mention the musical magician that is Mr Cotton Bud himself Rich Lane who Tunnyl recruited to perform the mastering on the EP, as always he has delivered and then some. A top notch EP that I have played out and will continue to do so. Buy it this Friday!!!! |
