James Rod & Chris Massey - Welcome to the Mutant Disco EP - Sprechen
|
Sprechen 008 was released on Monday 6th February and sees Mr Chris Massey joining forces with Spain's James Rodriquez (not the one who plays for Real Madrid) in another spaced out disco tinged dancefloor belter which has Gina Breeze and Ravi Brunswick or Rave-Enka on remix duties.
The EP consists of Rod & Massey offering up 'Take Me Higher' and 'Spanglish'... I've lifted the phrase "Bass heavy disco licked heaters" but its so apt it needed to be included. Gina Breeze and Rave-Enka add some Manchester and Norwegian spice to their interpretations, taking both into new and surprising territory. To celebrate its release we managed to have a chat with Ravi before he kindly dropped off the Numb Mixtape.... Get in on his mix below and spend your £2.49 on the EP, you wont be disappointed. NUMB) Greetings Ravi and welcome from Numb Magazine, could you start by introducing yourself to our readers?
RAVI) Hi, and hello! I'm Ravi from Norway. I sometimes make music as Rave-enka, or as one half of De Fantastiske To. NUMB) You’ve had solo projects released on Beatservice, Nein and on Paper Recordings, Trunkfunk, Omena, Midnight Riot and ISM with Marius as DFT how did you hook up with Mr Massey and Sprechen? RAVI) I got to know Chris through Paper Recordings, who were kind enough to release my music a few years back. We've been in touch ever since, through the wonders of digital communication. NUMB) Does your Rave-Enka persona allow you more freedom musically? RAVI) Short answer: yes. I'm trying to keep Rave-enka as open as possible musically. As a general rule I try to make music I'd play in a DJ set, which leaves things pretty free, whilst still having some direction. NUMB) Stock mixtape question, where did you record it & what did you use? RAVI) The mix was recorded in my studio. My DJ equipment is a bit spread out at the moment, so for this one I thought it'd be interesting to use Ableton Live and a knobby synth (for that sweet MIDI CC action) to do the mix. NUMB)And finally what can we expect from Rave-Enka in the future? RAVI) I'm slowly working towards an album, to be released on Paper Recordings. Taking my sweet time with it, so might drop an EP or two before it sees the light of day. |
